Automatic search engine submission

TL;DR Every time you publish or update your Mixo site, we automatically notify search engines so they can discover your changes faster. There’s nothing to set up — it works on all plans.

What happens when you publish?

When you hit the Publish button in the Mixo editor, several things happen behind the scenes to help search engines find your site:

  1. Your site goes live on your Mixo subdomain or custom domain.
  2. A sitemap is generated listing all your pages and articles, which helps search engines understand your site’s structure.
  3. Search engines are notified that your site has new or updated content. This tells participating search engines to prioritise crawling your pages.

This happens automatically on every publish — whether it’s your first time going live, a content update, or a new article.

Which pages are submitted?

When you publish your main site, we submit your homepage and all visible pages (e.g. /about, /services, /contact).

When you publish an article, we submit that specific article URL so search engines can discover it quickly.

How fast will my site appear in search results?

Automatic submission helps search engines discover your content faster — typically within hours rather than days or weeks. However, discovery and indexing are different things:

  • Discovery means the search engine knows your page exists and has queued it for crawling.
  • Indexing means the search engine has crawled, processed, and added your page to its search results.

The time between discovery and indexing depends on factors outside Mixo’s control, including the search engine’s own prioritisation, your site’s content quality, and overall domain authority. For most sites, you can expect to see results appearing within a few days of your first publish.

Do I need to set anything up?

No. Automatic search engine submission is built into every Mixo site at no extra cost. There’s no configuration, no plugins, and no third-party accounts to connect. Just publish your site and we handle the rest.

Does this replace SEO?

No — this is one piece of a broader SEO strategy. Automatic submission helps with the discovery step, but ranking well in search results also depends on:

  • Quality, relevant content on your pages
  • Proper use of meta titles and descriptions (which you can edit in the Mixo editor)
  • Backlinks from other websites
  • A mobile-friendly, fast-loading site (Mixo handles this for you)

Think of automatic submission as removing the first hurdle — making sure search engines know your site exists — so you can focus on creating great content.

Is this available on all plans?

Yes. Automatic search engine submission is included on all Mixo plans, including the free plan.
